THINGS PEOPLE ASK US ALL THE TIME

Getting tattooed comes with questions.

Here are the answers to most of them. If yours isn’t here, get in touch — we’d much rather you ask than sit at home wondering.

FAQs – Before You Book

How Much Does a Tattoo Cost?

Tattoo pricing depends on the artist, size, placement, style and amount of time involved.

As a general guide, our artists charge approximately $150–$250 per hour, with full-day sessions generally around $1,000–$1,500.

We’ll give you a clearer estimate once we know what you’re looking to have done.

Which Artist Should I Book?

If you already love a particular artist’s work, book with them directly.

If you’re not sure, don’t guess.

Send us your idea and reference images through the enquiry form and we’ll recommend the artist whose style is the best fit.

Can You Copy a Tattoo I’ve Found Online?

We won’t directly copy another tattoo artist’s work.

If you’ve found a tattoo you love, absolutely send it to us as a reference. We can use the style, subject or general direction as inspiration and create something original for you.

If the artwork is yours, was drawn specifically for you, or is common imagery such as a character or symbol, that’s a different story and we can discuss it with you.

I Don’t Really Know What I Want Yet. Is That Okay?

Very.

You don’t need to turn up with a perfectly planned tattoo and a design brief worthy of an advertising agency.

Send us what you do know — even if it’s just a subject, a couple of reference images and the part of your body you’re thinking about.

We can help from there.

Do You Do Consultations?

Yes.

A lot of the initial consultation process can be handled online, but if your tattoo needs a face-to-face discussion or you’d simply prefer to meet your artist first, let us know.

Do You Accept Walk-ins?

We operate primarily by appointment.

Availability can change, so if you’re hoping for something last-minute, contact the studio and we’ll let you know what’s possible.

FAQs – YOUR BOOKING

What Information Do You Need From Me?

The more useful information you give us, the easier it is for your artist to understand what you’re after.

Ideally send a description of your idea, reference images, placement, approximate size, whether you’d like colour or black and grey, and a photo of the area if you’re working around existing tattoos.

You don’t need to know every detail. That’s what we’re here for.

When Will I See My Design?

Your design will usually be ready for the day of your appointment.

You’ll have time to look through it with your artist and discuss any small changes before tattooing starts.

Why Don’t You Send the Design Beforehand?

This is standard practice for many tattoo artists.

Custom designs can take hours to create and are often still being refined close to the appointment.

Artists also need to protect original work from being copied or taken elsewhere.

Most importantly, seeing the design together on the day means you and your artist can discuss it properly, see how it works with your body and make any appropriate small adjustments before you start.

How Do Deposits Work?

A deposit is required to secure your appointment.

Deposits are paid through Timely as part of the booking process.

Your appointment is not considered confirmed until the deposit has been paid.

Your deposit is deducted from the total cost of your tattoo.

What if I Need to Change or Cancel My Appointment?

We require at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to move or cancel your appointment.

Changes or cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice may result in your deposit being forfeited.

If you need to make a change, please contact us as soon as possible.

Can I Bring Someone With Me?

Usually, yes — but space in the studio can vary.

If you’d like to bring a support person, particularly for a longer appointment, check with us beforehand and we’ll let you know what’s possible.

Do You Accept Cash and Card?

Yes, card payments are available in the studio.

Some artists may prefer cash for larger sessions, so if you’re booked for a substantial piece or full day, it’s worth checking with your artist beforehand.

FAQs – ON THE DAY

What Should I Do Before My Appointment?

Get a good night’s sleep, eat properly beforehand and arrive hydrated.

Wear something comfortable that gives your artist easy access to the area being tattooed.

For longer sessions, you’re welcome to bring snacks, headphones, a charger or anything else that will make the day more comfortable.

We’ll keep the water and fizzy drinks coming.

What if I’m Nervous?

Tell us.

First tattoos can feel intimidating when you don’t know what to expect, and there’s absolutely no prize for pretending you’re fine if you’re not.

Your artist will talk you through what’s happening, and if you need a break at any point, just say so.

Can I Take a Break?

Of course.

If you’re uncomfortable, feeling light-headed, need the bathroom or simply need five minutes, tell your artist.

Tattooing isn’t an endurance competition.

FAQs – AFTER YOUR TATTOO

How Long Will My Tattoo Take to Heal?

Healing time varies depending on the size, placement and style of tattoo, as well as your skin and how you heal.

As a general guide, tattoos can take anywhere from around one to five weeks to fully settle and heal.

Your artist will give you aftercare instructions specific to your tattoo before you leave.

How Do I Look After My New Tattoo?

Your artist will explain exactly how they want you to care for your tattoo, as aftercare can vary depending on the piece and dressing used.

Follow those instructions carefully, keep the area clean and resist the urge to pick or scratch it while it heals.

We also stock tattoo aftercare products in the studio if you need them.

When Can I Swim or Exercise?

Fresh tattoos need time to heal before being soaked or exposed to environments that increase the risk of irritation or infection.

Your artist will give you advice based on your tattoo, its placement and your normal activities.

If you’re planning a beach holiday, swimming, heavy training or anything similar soon after your appointment, mention it when booking.
